The Barley Barn is a thoughtfully renovated barn offering flexible sleeping accommodation for 6 – 9 guests. Its charming period character has been cleverly aligned with stylish contemporary furnishings, and all the mod cons have been installed to ensure you’ll want for nothing during your stay. The private rear garden with table, chairs and BBQ is a delightful place for a group of friends or family and your furry friends to enjoy the wonders of the countryside.
Dogs are welcome downstairs for just £8 per dog per day.
Rates are for 6 guests. Additional guests on fold away or sofa beds are a one off additional fee of £75 per person for 3 nights/weekend. Bedding, linen, bath sheet and hand towel are included in this price.

A solid oak door opens onto the cottage’s ground floor where you’ll find the open plan living, kitchen and dining areas. With exposed beams and imposing brick fireplace, guests can enjoy lazy afternoons, family board games or pre-dinner drinks in the living room where the comfortable sofas and log burner creates a homely ambiance.
The kitchen is well-equipped with all you need for a self-catered holiday and meals can be enjoyed in the dining room or on the outside patio.
There is a full size fridge freezer, electric cooker, induction hob, dishwasher and washing machine.
There are two bedrooms downstairs.
Bedroom 1 –The master bedroom has a stunning super king antique French bed and en-suite with Crema Fil marble and jacuzzi bath and rainfall shower. This spacious bedroom can be transformed into a family room with a small double sofa bed that is ideal for two children or one adult. (A small additional fee per person applies.)
Bedroom 2 – The small second bedroom has two single beds. Opposite is a gorgeous newly refurbished bathroom with walk in shower.
Bedroom 3 – The upstairs bedroom has a king size bed and an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower above. For a third guest, a large single fold away bed can be set up. (A small additional fee applies.)
The front garden is gated and there is off road parking on the shared driveway for a total of 5 cars.
French doors open from the lounge onto the private rear patio and garden. There is a table seating up to 10 guests and a large parasol. An additional table and chairs are around the side of the barn under the balcony, ideal to follow the sun or get out of the shade!
There is a coal BBQ (coal not supplied) and a range of utensils.
A 3 person hot tub, comprising of 2 loungers and 1 seat, in a secluded area of the surrounding garden will be available to hire separately. Please enquire for details.
There are two gardens to enjoy at the front and back of Barley Barn. Enjoy breakfast, afternoon tea or dinner on the patio where you can look out for a variety of birds, bees, rabbits and even deer. A tranquil place to watch the sun go down and grill some local produce on the charcoal BBQ.
You may need to pay an additional Damage Deposit for this property. Where applicable, you will need to pay this the day before arrival.

Tranquil, high class accommodation
We had a lovely few days at the Hay Barn at Jepcrack’s. The welcome and care we received from Carmel and Jason was excellent and the Barn had everything we needed during our stay. En-suite bedrooms and open plan living with lots of space to spread out. Tranquil Essex countryside with lots of footpaths to explore with the dog (who was made v. welcome) and close to local shops and restaurants. We look forward to returning.
Wonderful stay
We were met by Carmel. The Shire Barn was absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. It was so well equipped too. Well fitted bathrooms, spacious rooms, comfy beds and bedding. I loved opening the door in the bedroom in the morning overlooking the wheat field while having my cup of tea. We really loved the hot tub and appreciated the tub towels. We enjoyed sitting outside, bbq, and plenty of seating. It was an opportunity to rest and spend quality family time together. We went for a little wander to Promenade Park but didn’t feel the need to go elsewhere as we wanted to enjoy the accommodation. Waitrose delivered and we had a super time. It was perfect. Thank you.
Beautiful accommodation with character set in the fields
Great place to stay to relax and enjoy with a group of people. We enjoyed the walks and the local pubs and the hot tub overlooking the fields was a bonus. The barn is beautifully decorated and very homely with a lovely fireplace. Our stay there to celebrate a special 90th birthday was perfect.
