A lovingly curated space that has maximised the barn’s original beams. The Cart Lodge is modest on the outside, yet you’ll discover an inviting open plan living, dining and kitchen area and a door that leads to an elegant bedroom with en-suite. The barn is centrally heated and there is a wood burning stove for those chillier nights.
Our newly constructed private hot tub area can be added to the rental of this barn. The 3 person hot tub is in a private, secluded area of the garden with views over farmland. Set under a gorgeous pergola with louvred roof plus table and chairs, this area is great in winter as well as summer. The hot tub has 2 loungers overlooking the fields and a seat and is powered by a series of high performance jets. With fairy lights and bluetooth, it’s great for the evening as well as the day time.

Dogs are welcome for just £8 per dog per day.
Rates are for 2 guests. For additional guests a one off payment of £75 for one guest or £90 for two guests for 3 nights / weekend apply. This includes bedding, linen, bath sheet and hand towel.

The Cart Lodge can be accessed either from the private back door or from the entrance at the front lawn. The lounge has a sofa, arm chair and wood burning stove. The sofa folds out to a large double bed, easily accommodating two adults. (A small additional fee applies.)
There is an adjustable TV, DVD player and free WI-FI.
The kitchen is modern and fully equipped, designed to a high specification making cooking away from home an enjoyable task. The table can extend and four chairs are available. The French door opens to views over the front lawn.
The bedroom has an antique French king size bed, carved wardrobe and set of drawers.
The en-suite is decorated with Travertine. It has a full size bath with shower above and heated towel rail.
The front garden is gated and there is off road parking on the driveway for 1 car plus additional parking if required.
A stable door leads to a private patio with table, chairs and charcoal BBQ and there are lovely countryside views.

Tranquil, high class accommodation
We had a lovely few days at the Hay Barn at Jepcrack’s. The welcome and care we received from Carmel and Jason was excellent and the Barn had everything we needed during our stay. En-suite bedrooms and open plan living with lots of space to spread out. Tranquil Essex countryside with lots of footpaths to explore with the dog (who was made v. welcome) and close to local shops and restaurants. We look forward to returning.
Wonderful stay
We were met by Carmel. The Shire Barn was absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. It was so well equipped too. Well fitted bathrooms, spacious rooms, comfy beds and bedding. I loved opening the door in the bedroom in the morning overlooking the wheat field while having my cup of tea. We really loved the hot tub and appreciated the tub towels. We enjoyed sitting outside, bbq, and plenty of seating. It was an opportunity to rest and spend quality family time together. We went for a little wander to Promenade Park but didn’t feel the need to go elsewhere as we wanted to enjoy the accommodation. Waitrose delivered and we had a super time. It was perfect. Thank you.
Beautiful accommodation with character set in the fields
Great place to stay to relax and enjoy with a group of people. We enjoyed the walks and the local pubs and the hot tub overlooking the fields was a bonus. The barn is beautifully decorated and very homely with a lovely fireplace. Our stay there to celebrate a special 90th birthday was perfect.
